A Chilled Winter ‘I Do’

Join us as we celebrate the beautifully relaxed wedding of Ruth and Nick, who tied the knot in a low-key yet elegant ceremony at the stunning Charlton House in London. Expecting their little one and embracing a calm, meaningful day with loved ones, Ruth chose our timeless Vintage Cape Gown, a modern bridal look with a winter-ready twist.

1. Where did you meet?

We met on Hinge in August 2020 when we all thought lockdown and COVID 19 was a thing of the past, and encouraged by 'Eat Out to Help Out' etc. I thought I was just going on a fun date to get back out there as the world was opening up and I didn't expect to meet 'the one', but here we are!

2. Where did you get married and why did you choose that venue?

We just wanted a registry office wedding, very low-key, but when we got in touch with the council we were told that Woolwich Town Hall was going to be under construction around the time that we were looking to get married, and that the alternate venue for registry office weddings was going to be Charlton House. This made us more excited as Charlton House is a beautiful venue that would usually cost a lot more money to hire! We only had the ceremony there but we were allowed access to other areas in the house before the wedding, and the gardens afterwards for photos. We then headed down into Woolwich for the rest of the afternoon and evening in a pub.

3. Tell us about the dress!

I was surprised at the general lack of options for maternity wedding dresses online. I clocked Tiffany Rose pretty early on but left it quite late just in case I had a really small bump and could fit into a standard wedding dress. But as time went on I realised I was leaving it way too late to get a dress from any other bridal shop, and I didn't even want to spend that much money on a dress I'd only wear once anyway. I ordered 3 Tiffany Rose dresses to try on, but I knew that the one I ended up choosing was going to be the one just from the pictures alone. I tried it on and it fit me perfectly - I didn't even need to get it tailored! It felt amazing on, I especially loved the cape element and it even felt a bit wintery which suited my late November wedding perfectly!

4. Do you have any advice for other pregnant brides planning a wedding?

I actually loved having my wedding while I was pregnant! It meant we could plan a really chilled day which was all that we wanted anyway and it's already such an exciting time in life. It was great to get our close friends and family all together before the baby comes and life becomes a little more hectic!

5. Any other fun facts to share with us?

Having a wedding while pregnant also meant that the wedding photoshoot also turns into a bit of a maternity shoot too, providing the most beautiful bump pictures ever. A special thanks goes to our amazing photographer, Hazel, for doing such an amazing job with our wedding photos, we love them all!
