A Cosy Countryside Celebration

Join us as we celebrate the beautiful wedding of Matija and Domagoj, who exchanged vows surrounded by family, friends and nature in the hills of Croatia. Choosing an intimate family-run restaurant close to home, their day was all about meaningful moments, warm conversations and embracing the simple things in life.

Wearing our Valencia Gown, Matija found the perfect balance of comfort and elegance, allowing her to relax and truly enjoy every moment of her special day.

1. Where did you meet?

We met one hot summer in July, many years ago, while we were both planning to work abroad – Matija in Gibraltar and Domagoj in Germany.

At the time, I wanted to cycle to the Croatian coast (despite only ever doing one small cycling trip before!), while Domagoj was already an experienced cyclist who had completed many long-distance routes. A mutual friend introduced us.

I was due to leave for Gibraltar shortly afterwards, but my plans were cancelled because of problems with my work permit. I wasn’t sad for too long though – something even better was waiting for me.

Although we didn’t make that cycling trip to the coast that summer, the following year we cycled over 500km from Karlovac to Dubrovnik and many more adventures followed after that.

2. Where did you get married and why did you choose that venue?

We chose a small family restaurant in the hills surrounding Samobor, a beautiful town just outside Zagreb.

It has the feel of both a cosy restaurant and a mountain lodge, which perfectly reflects our personalities and our love of nature. We actually live nearby in a small house next to the woods, so it already felt like home.

The tables were quite small, which may have surprised some of our guests at first, but we wanted everyone to feel close together. For us, luxury wasn’t about grandeur – it was about creating a warm atmosphere where everyone could talk, laugh and genuinely connect. I think we achieved exactly that.

3. Tell us about the dress!

The dress was perfect!

It had been my favourite from the moment I first saw it on the Tiffany Rose website. The fabric is beautiful, the design is elegant, and although it looked every bit like a luxurious wedding dress, it felt as comfortable as wearing pyjamas.

Feeling comfortable was one of my biggest priorities because I wanted to stay relaxed throughout the day. Looking back, I’m really proud that I managed to do exactly that and the dress played such an important part in helping me enjoy every single moment.

4. Do you have any advice for other brides planning a wedding?

Trust your instinct while choosing all your details, it is your day, not anyone else's. If you feel good, everyone around you will feel it too and you will be able to transfer all those good vibes to your guests. Don't worry about pleasing everyone else, because you can't do it anyway, people are too different - so focus on what you want. Definitley choose a beautiful and comfortable dress!!
